Chicago Immigrant March

There is an immigrant rights march in Chicago today. The organizers are expecting 200-300K people to attend. I believe this is a good example of how a country evolves - whether some people want it to or not. The immigrant population in the United States is growing every day. This peaceful march is their attempt to show the rest of us what is going on in the country, that they are here, that they matter, and that we need to pay attention to them. Now is really the time for the rest of us Americans to solve this problem before it evolves. Peaceful marches can turn into riots. Riots can turn into citywide chaos. Citywide chaos can spread......and then maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next year, but at some point in the next 50 years if things are changed we could have something gettings towards a civil war. I really don't think this is an outlandish prediction at all. As our country changes, our laws need to change to pacify the masses. Now is the time for us to try and work with this new population and give them our demands which I believe are fair. 1. Go through the legal process to become a citizen. 2. Pay taxes. 3. Sign up for Selective Service (if Iran and North Korea declare war on the US tomorrow, you can be sure that my butt is getting called up. If you want to be an American then be ready to die for America like the rest of us.) 4. Try to leave the country better off than you found it. The US does not need any more people taking out without putting in. This means paying taxes and not just living on welfare. Being involved in the community and not just using its resources. Support the political process and encourage voting. All in all, just be a good citizen. 5. Learn English. English is such a universal language now. Most of the people in Europe who are younger than 30 speak good English already. There is no excuse for you not to do the same. Finally, on this day of the march, I just want everyone to realize that the mayor is currently on a tax payer paid vacation with his wife in Jordan. He is claiming this is for the city but give me a break. What is Chicago going to get out of this trip? Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. The fact that you are out of town on the day when something huge like this march is taking place is flat out deraliction of duty and you should be impeached. What would happen if this march turned into a riot and there was citywide chaos? Great time for you to be spending more of our money overseas Dick.

Consumer Confidence 4 Year High (President at 4 Year Low)

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/04/25/D8H73VI01.html (http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/04/25/D8H73VI01.html) Just as a quick followup to yesterday's comment.... The above link points to an article showing consumer confidence in the US is at a four year high. I just have to wonder if that kind of "high" has ever gone hand in hand with a President's approval rating at an all time "low" in the US?

Bush + Negative America = Dollar Down

The Dollar has had a bad week or two now thanks in most part to the gas issue. The Dollar was below 1.21 against the Euro on the 14th and has since shot almost straight up touching above 1.24 today. As we commented on a few months ago, 2005 saw the Dollar drop from 1.36 to below 1.20. Is 2006 going to see prices above 1.36? Sadly, I think so. Gas prices scare Americans more than job numbers and other key factors that are pointing to a good economy in the US. Numbers don't seem to matter right now unless they are listed next to Unleaded. Americans are incredibly negative on President Bush right now and that is not helping the Dollar. Bush has unfortunately not been able to "spin" the good economy into being his baby in the same way that Slick Willy convinced everyone of the same in the 90's. "Hating on" Bush I believe is a drag on the Dollar as the World sometimes views how we are doing based on our opinion of our Chief. People are nervous about Iran but to my surprise, not as much as they are fed up with Iraq. The progress is never enough especially in our world of instant gratification or nothing at all. Suming this all up and my sad prediction for Q2 2006 is -- Down with Bush = Down with the Dollar
