We begin with a tour of Robert Mondavi Winery's To Kalon Cellar discussing the fine points of winegrowing and winemaking. Then, we retire to a beautiful outdoor setting surrounded by the colorful flowers of our garden and the vineyards which produce the delicious wines you will enjoy with a seasonal 'family style' lunch prepared by our Winery Chef.

You will begin with an exploration of our historic To Kalon Vineyard (est. 1868) and of modern winemaking in our cellars. You will then participate in a vivid presentation of the history of winegrowing in California, beginning with its origins in the Spanish missions, then its growth following the Gold Rush, the tragedies of the phylloxera disease and Prohibition, and finally the recent re-birth of fine wine. You will then enjoy an elegant three-course luncheon created by our Winery Chef, accompanied by five of our wines. Length is approximately three hours.

Let us share our bounty with you with a tour of our winery followed by a three-course lunch in our Vineyard Room. You will savor dishes prepared by our Winery Chef while enjoying idyllic views of the To Kalon Vineyard and the neighboring Mayacamas mountains. This program unfolds over a two and a half hour period.

THE TASTE OF WINE

This two-hour formal tasting will take you on a journey through your palate. You will learn to taste wine with care in order to appreciate its quality; to submit it to examination by your senses; to try and understand it by discovering its various characters and putting them into words. Guests will be able to 'read' a wine by appreciating its visual aspect, evaluate its aromas and flavors as well as experience its mouthfeel. Understanding a wine is to savor it. Approximately two hours.

TO KALON TOUR AND TASTING

Offered daily on the hour from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. year-round. Advanced reservations are accepted. This program is also available in a small private group tour format.

Approximately 75 minutes in length.
(Note: Due to the in-depth nature of this tour and tasting, young adults 13 years of age or older are permitted on the noon tour only; children under 13 are not permitted.)

Robert Mondavi Winery's renowned tour follows the path of the grape from the vineyard through the cellar to the finished wine. You will see the inner workings of our winery and learn about the vineyard, fermentation, barrel aging and bottling. A seated educational tasting of wines from Robert Mondavi Winery then brings the elements of wine making together as you taste three of our top wines.

$25 per person for parties of 7 or less. Groups of 8 or more please call for pricing.

The Robert Mondavi Winery is open to visitors daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The superb new 11,000 square foot cave at Arietta’s winemaking facility at Chateau Boswell will open officially at the end of June. The renovated and expanded facility at Boswell is the first Napa winery to receive Green certification. Although Arietta will not be open to the public, the tasting areas and additional space in the cave facility will make it easier to meet existing subscribers personally by appointment when they visit Napa.
