Samuel Peter wins rematch, Toney ponders what's next

Peter was the better man, he looked strong and sharp throughout the entire 12 rounds of the fight. Peter brought a great jab to the fight and at one point blasted Toney with it and James hit the canvas, he says he was off balance but still it looked like Peter just flicked the jab. Peter has great power and was just to strong for Toney, although James took almost everything Peter had, but Samuel looked like the fresher guy at the end of the fight.

Friday night was a good night for boxing

A devastating left hook to the body followed by a fight ending overhand right cemented Peterson's victory, seen world wide via ESPN's "Friday Night Fights".

Don King, Miguel Cotto, and more

Some where in the deluge of Don King’s latest press conference at the Rockefeller Center, where once again hyperbole exceeded in the utmost, his liturgy veered towards perhaps the best summation of the man himself. “What you have seen before, you will see again,” he said. Somewhere between his utterances of “you know what I mean,” he began to sell us all on the significance of Sam Peter vs. James Toney II: Redemption and proved that if nothing else, he sure can talk.

Manny Pacquiao, welcome to the kingdom of PACLAND!

After last weeks pouncing of Eric Morales, Manny Pacquiao now holds the title of undisputed "Pound for Pound" King.

Mike Tyson "Public Interest"

The commentators, the experts, the older fans, pretty much everybody thinks that boxing is at it's lowest point right now. So the question lingers, how did we get to this point? Don Kings name will be repeated over and over in these discussions, although that's just reaching for the obvious........wrong, but obvious. The boxing industry has to shoulder plenty of the blame, make no mistake about that. But it's the market that dictates how well the sport does, and the market dried up with Mike Tyson.

Klitschko a champ in and outside the ring

Wladimir Klitschko showed just why he is the best world heavyweight champion last Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. And when the brash Shannon Briggs showed up to steal his thunder, he displayed the diplomacy that makes him the people’s champion as well.

New York welcomes heavy hitters

With the heavyweight ranks splintered, fans are looking for one fighter to emerge as the preeminent big man and on Saturday Madison Square Garden will extend that opportunity to Wladimir Klitschko (46-3, 41) and Calvin Brock (29-0, 22). Klitschko already holds the IBO and IBF straps, and since he began training with Emanuel Steward he has emerged as the guy to beat. Outside the ring he has proven to be a good will ambassador that knows the full responsibility of his international title. He is donating a portion of the fight’s profits to UNESCO, and thankfully he also negotiated for the match to be aired on HBO’s regular telecast to ensure more fans access.

Beauparlant, who competed on the Canadian National Wrestling team, evolved with the sport he had grown up in and loved for 17 years. Though his first MMA fight came at age 32, working in various disciplines has made the solidly-built Canadian a tough opponent.

Interview with the Former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion Pat Miletich

One look at Pat Miletich’s resume and it should come as no surprise that Pat Miletich is one of the most renowned trainers in mixed martial arts: he is the former UFC lightweight and welterweight champion, he is the longtime coach of UFC champions Matt Hughes and Tim Sylvia as well as former UFC lightweight champ Jens Pulver, he has founded the extraordinarily successful Miletich Fighting Systems in Bettendorf, Iowa, he has instructed military and law enforcement personnel, and he lays claim to being one of the first coaches of the inaugural International Fight League event.

New York’s November fight scene heats up

Despite the muted tone of yesterday’s press conference kicking off the November 15th installment of Broadway Boxing, both Edgar Santana (19-2, 12) and Curtis Stevens (13-1, 11) were in good spirits. Lou DiBella’s impending card promises some exciting performances, the other half of the Chin Checkers, Jaidon Codrington (12-1, 10), will be back with Stevens, but leaves little room for surprises like Stevens previous outing that brought the first setback to his previously unblemished record.
