The UAE chapter of the International Advertising Association has elected Dr Lance de Masi, president of American University in Dubai and present vice-president, as president, and Nassib Boueri, managing director of Wunderman, as vice-president. Dr de Masi replaces Sami Raffoul, who during an electoral process conducted among IAA executives at the recent IAA World Congress in Washington DC was elected IAA vice-president and area director, Middle East & Africa.

Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) has entered the electronic games industry as an advertising partner in popular games. In cooperation with Microsofts electronic in-game pioneer, Massive Inc., Mobily is aiming to target teenagers by introducing its services and products to that market via in-games.

BrandPlay and CineStar Cinemas have joined forces with cinema advertiser Motivate Val Morgan to offer interactive dynamic cinema lobby advertising. It will see motion-sensitive ad panels on the floors and walls of CineStar cinemas, which they believe will be more engaging for customers. Units will be initially located at CineStars in Deira City Centre, Mall of the Emirates and Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi, followed by a new cinema in Mirdif next year. [AMEInfo.com]
The Middle East International Film Festival has announced its call for entries for this years competition. Deadline for entries is 10th August, with the festival taking place at Emirates Palace in October.
