Vermilion River Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a flood warning for the Vermilion River at Lafayette's Surrey Street gage.  At 6:15pm Thursday, the river was at 10.6 feet. Minor flooding is occuring and more minor flooding is forecast.

Police Surround House on Clara, Searching for Suspect

Right now, Lafayette Police have surrounded a house on the 100 block of Clara Street. According to sources at the Police Department, a rape suspect has barricaded himself inside a house.

Acadiana is starting the clean up process, after powerful storms moved across southern Louisiana. High winds and pounding rain moved in just after 6am, tearing off roofs and knocking down trees throughout Acadiana.

Strong winds toppled several large trees in the Lafayette neighborhood of Bendel Gardens. High winds tossed and pushed over the old trees like matchsticks.  Police closed off Lafayette's Oil Center Thursday.
