HP is a leading global provider of technology products, solutions, and services to consumers and businesses. Facing fierce competition from its rivals, HP understands that providing superior service is critical to building and maintaining customer loyalty. HP prides itself on the expertise and professionalism of its consultants, customer service representatives, and sales people. Customers must feel comfortable and confident interacting with HP via the Internet or any other channel. The challenge was to develop reusable components that can be shared by multiple e-commerce applications. After deciding to build in a J2EE environment, HP brought in BEA WebLogic Workshop from trusted technology partner BEA.
Today's enterprises are gaining competitive advantage and realizing increased productivity by deploying an enterprise portal within their IT infrastructure. Oracle Portal - a component of Oracle Application Server - is a complete and integrated solution for building, deploying, and maintaining a world-class enterprise portal. Oracle Portal combines a rich, declarative environment for creating a portal Web interface, publishing and managing information, accessing dynamic data, and customizing the portal experience, with an extensible framework for J2EE-based application access. Using Oracle Portal, e-businesses have the power to connect employees, partners, and suppliers with the information they need and the flexibility to create views tailored to each community.
Caisse Nationale d'Allocations Familiales (CNAF) is France's family benefits agency, administering a US$62 billion budget that touches the lives of 30 million French residents. The challenge was to provide a user-friendly interface that allows non-IT personnel to extract and analyze data to provide better service to the agency's clients. The solution used was SAS9, with SAS Web Report Studio, which expands the report building, querying and data analysis functions from hundreds to thousands of employees at CNAF.
The Oracle Service Delivery Platform is a J2EE-based realization of the OMA Service environment (OSE). Enablers, which are key building blocks of reusable functionality that expose standard interfaces, are a central architectural principle underlying the implementation of the Oracle SDP. Enablers bring to the Telecom and service provider domain a number of well understood lessons in the IT domain, such as encapsulation, abstraction, standard APIs and reuse. As such, relevant out of the box enablers along with a general purpose enabler framework are absolutely central to getting traditional IT and enterprise developers excited about network-centric applications. The Oracle SDP provides both such enablers as well as an enabler framework that allows 3rd parties to build their own enablers.
