What defines a good podcast? Make no mistake -- there is a difference between a good podcast and a not-so-good podcast. A high-caliber podcast is much more than just decent content. The sound quality, and the way a podcast is recorded, will impact the value of the podcast as well. Podcast structure and pre-planning are also important; do not skimp on the production, as it too can make or break a podcast.

Why are the books on Podiobooks.com free of charge?
Many authors do this to get exposure for their work, others do it in the hopes you'll buy their next work in development. Still others simply do it for the sheer joy of writing. And while it's not required, you have the option to donate money to the author of your choice. When you consider that audio books run usually 50% more than their hardcover counterparts... we hope you'll be generous. Authors receive 75% of all the proceeds from the donations from listeners. The smaller portion goes to the maintenance and upkeep of Podiobooks.com.

Can, and will, the next generation of politicians exploit the communication mediums available to them? Will the new communication mediums have the power to influence public opinion? Will politicians be the victims of technology, or will they use it to their benefit? Will one party benefit from the use of the technology more than another? All reasonable questions, considering the role technology plays in todays society.
The staggering distribution numbers, through channels like iTunes, YouTube, or podcasting websites, indicate that technology could play a critical role in the upcoming elections. Technology could be the deciding factor in the 2008 US Presidential race, and while distribution has never before been as accessible as it is to today's politicians and political candidates, politicians have far less control over the news and media than their counterparts in previous years.

The lens through which viewers receive their news has changed. The images of struggle are no longer frozen in time; technology has helped preserve and personalize these conflicts by producing moving tributes to the conflicts of humankind.
The strife and internal conflicts that marred the globe in 2006 continued into 2007: Mynamar (Burma), Palestine and Lebanon all continue to struggle with internal conflicts in their borders. The differences between 2006 and 2007 are not obvious; however, under close examination, it is evident that several external struggles have been transformed into internal conflicts. In 2006, many countries attempted to influence their neighbors. This was evident with Iran attempting to influence the turmoil in Iraq, and Syria attempting to control Lebanon. Both struggles have evolved into internal personal conflicts in 2007.

The illustrated lectures are stored on a server so that students can retrieve them and replay the content on the bus ride home, clicking along to the exact section they need to review.
The concept is not new, the amazing part is that these companies charge annual fees north of $25,000 to more than $100,000! These Universities could do it for far less!

There is little argument that RSS can and will generate web traffic. Realtors using RSS feeds will increase the traffic to their website, and more web traffic means more potential buyers. RSS feeds will expand a realtor's reach and distribution, meaning that Realtors will reach new audiences using RSS feeds. RSS reaches areas through syndication that are just not as accessible through normal channels or traditional realty advertising. Technically-savvy investors with deep pockets keep watch for new listings, and they will frequently scan RSS feeds for specific locations. Using RSS feeds, real estate offices are able to draw attention to specific properties they decide to highlight in their feeds.

Book review by Kelly Kass on How to Do Everything with Podcasting.
Much of the book - just like a Powerpoint presentation- is presented in a refreshingly simple, bulletpoint style complete with informative stats and helpful diagrams.
Three years ago, podcasting was in its infancy. Former MTV VJ, Adam Curry and blog hero, Dave Winer, had popularized the technology and the concept that made it all possible. There were only a handful of shows in existence at that time and, truth be told, the content and production quality was mostly poor. The only thing smaller than the selection of shows was the minimal audience they were trying to reach.
Fast- forward to the fall of 2007 and there are thousands upon thousands of podcasts listed in iTunes and hundreds more added each week. Sure, there are still some un-listenable amateur shows produced in basements, but there is also a ton of professionally produced content that is well worth checking out – many of which promotes online businesses.

Apple says that iPhones that have been hacked may not work after the next software update. Oh yeah Apple also says they are not intentionally trying to break hacked phones - yeah right.
Hacking a device, iPhone or anything else, whether it be a hardware or a software hack, is likely to end up voiding your warranty. That should come as no surprise to anyone — well, it probably does, and will, to some of those who will try to get their hacked iPhones serviced.
A colleague of ZDNet writer Jason D. OGrady recently tried to return an iPhone which had been hacked and was using T-Mobile service. They said they would blacklist the phone, so that he could not take it anywhere for service or return in the future. Only after sweet-talking the manager was he able to return it, but with a 10% restocking fee.

Mastering the art of managing customer complaints can seem like a thankless job, but keep in mind that for every customer that shares their worries, concerns or complaints, there are likely more that did not express their dissatisfaction, and instead simply moved on to a competitor. Customer complaints can, and should be treated as opportunities.

That is not as hard as you might think. Sure, you may not have a deep, sonorous voice that makes Nicolas Cage actually seem heroic, but that is not necessary. The real trick- and it is a trick - is to learn how to highlight particular phrases and be consistent in your speech.

A 17-year-old hacker has broken the lock that ties Apples iPhone to AT&T;'s wireless network, freeing the most hyped cell phone ever for use on the networks of other carriers, including overseas ones.
George Hotz of Glen Rock, N.J., spent his last summer before college figuring out how to unlock the iPhone, freeing it from being restricted to a single carrier, AT&T; Inc.
The procedure, which the 17-year-old posted on his blog Thursday, raises the possibility of a cottage industry springing up to buy iPhones, unlocking them and then selling them to people who don't want AT&T; service or can not get it, particularly overseas.

The man informed McLaughlin that if he posted the unlock code, he could be sued for copyright infringement and for dissemination of Apples intellectual property.

Apple Inc said on Tuesday it would offer the entire solo catalog of John Lennon on iTunes in its second such deal with one of the Beatles, who have been among the highest-profile holdouts to put tunes online.

AC DC is finally selling its music digitally. But not on iTunes. AC DC Music will be available through Verizon.
In a joint announcement, AT&T; and eMusic on Tuesday launched a new mobile music service for AT&T; subscribers that uses a different—and potentially crippling—pricing model.
The new service lets AT&T; customers preview and purchase music directly from their handsets, with access to an estimated catalog of 2.7 million over-the-air tracks. That makes it the largest wireless music catalog available, according to eMusic. Once a subscriber purchases a song, it is downloaded directly to the cell phone. Meanwhile, a duplicate copy is also available for downloading to a users PC later on.
However, there's a twist: with the new eMusic Mobile service, users don't buy tracks on an individual basis. They also don't subscribe to the service and rent access to the entire catalog, a la Napster-To-Go. Instead, the eMusic Mobile service charges $7.49 per month for a subscription; once subscribed, a user can download any five DRM-free tracks in MP3 format from the full catalog.

Hackers could take control of an iPhone if its owner visits a doctored Web site or Internet hotspot, security researchers reported Monday.
The vulnerability of the vaunted device, Apple Inc first cell phone, is only theoretical for now. There are no reports of criminals actually taking advantage of the security glitch to remotely access an iPhone.
But if it were exploited, hijacked iPhones could be very useful to the same gangs that take over personal computers and use them to disseminate spam, said Charlie Miller, principal security analyst at Independent Security Evaluators, which discovered the flaw.

Complaints about the speed of the network that Apples new iPhone connects to points to the need for a new broadband wireless network in the U.S.

Detailed article about Podsafe Music.
The licensor of any podsafe work must be legally capable of making it so. An artist cannot distribute his or her own work through a podsafe license if doing so would break any laws or breach any standing agreements (e.g. with the RIAA). The creator of a derivative work may also not claim this work podsafe without express permission from the original copyright holders. (PMN has more specific and stringent terms to this effect in its agreement.) Another point of contention is that not all podcasts are non-commercial works; in fact, an increasing number of podcasts are taking on sponsors and looking to make a profit. In general, no significant distinction is yet made between podsafe for non-commercial use and podsafe for commercial use, but it could easily arise at any moment.
