TechsMechs - Gizmos, Music, and Cool Toys 4 Boys
Could someone please explain to me why 2/3 of the new systems are coming out after the Holiday rush? I don't think it is a good idea. Oh well, I am going to wait and see which one has the most to offer before I slap down any money.
XBOX SUMMIT: Game Announcements News Story From 1UP.COM: "Right now, Microsoft is in the midst of the second half of their Xbox Summit and a press release has been issued detailing the game's being announced at the conference, in addition to confirming what's already in development."

The Tech Zone Computer Hardware Reviews: "It's not easy to be a hardcore gamer. It's hard. Wouldn't it be easier if you had a job in the videogames business? Think about it: working for a software company, being able to play games during office hours, with people who share your passion. "
I am a huge fan of Primus. It all started with this album. When I first heard it, it blew me away. I had never heard anything like it. Songs like Tommy the Cat and Here Come the Bastards have been stuck in my head ever since. Les is one of the great bass players of our time. If you think you have never heard Les or Primus think again. Primus did the Theme song for Southpark and Les did the theme for Robot Chicken. Buy this Album. You will love it.

WOW! I guess Russians take their email pretty serious.

Russias Biggest Spammer Brutally Murdered in Apartment - NEWS - MOSNEWS.COM: "Vardan Kushnir, notorious for sending spam to each and every citizen of Russia who appeared to have an e-mail, was found dead in his Moscow apartment on Sunday, Interfax reported Monday. He died after suffering repeated blows to the head."
Well I am back in the office after a weekend with a bad headache. My entertainment consisted of watch movies on Cable and Burning my Divx stuff off of a hard drive.
I did play some Donkey Konga though. Good game if you have not tried it.
I also read about the upcoming PSP Bios Upgrade. They are enabling a full web browser. That is great news. Oh yeah I bought these new headphones for my PSP that sound amazing.
Well I think that sums up my weekend. Hope everyone had a good one.

Here is a quick tutorial for all of you classic gamers out there. I tried this over the weekend and it works great.
Nintendo On Amazon
ClassicGaming.com - Repairing Your NES: "I have found a way to flawlessly and safely repair those old, cranky NES consoles. Surely everyone who has owned the system has at one point seen the horrors that it can produce: power flashes, blue screens, grey screens... endless frustrations. "
I have tried a few of the online music stores and thought that I should discuss them.
ITunes Store
Of course this is the biggest store out there. They just past 500M downloads. At 99c a song they are about on par with a CD's Price. The quality is good to. you are limited to using IPod for Portability, but that is what most people use anyway. Now they are talking about adding Video and Movies. This is great. That Mac Mini will truly come into it's own with this. Like I said before, it is the perfect HTPC.
Napster
Napster was great, When it was free. Of course that was against the law. They are doing ok now though. They introduce Napster on the go which is a monthly few so you can RENT all the music you can fit on an MP3 Player. This is pretty good. They have afew different players that it works on. Cost is about 15$ a month.
Rhapsody
This is Best Buys Project. Can't say much about it.
Yahoo
Just got started and it rattled some chains. They are doing the On the Go idea as well. But it is only like 7$ a month. They also have worked to make it compatible with Microsofts "Work with" Program. This is a very good deal.
Allofmp3.com
This is a Grey area Russian company. They have tons of music and formats. The price is right to. 1c per meg. That is like 3-5c a song on average. Problem is I don't think they have to pay the artists. I doubt it will be around much longer.
There are several others. But those are the ones I am familar with. Hpe this was interesting.

Ok, I decided that I have been mixing things up a bit to much. So I have decided to give this site a schedule for the format. So here it is:

PS. I have a couple of people who would like to start posting their reviews on this blog as well. I will figure out a way for you to know who posted what.

Just realized that many people will not know what an HTPC. Here is the Wiki Page info on it.
Home theater PC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "A home theater PC (HTPC) is a personal computer that is used to replace components in a home theater system. The general goal in a HTPC is usually to combine most (or all) of a home theater setup into one box. There are lots of advantages to this type of setup."
Read the article. This is an awesome little toy. and it can replace several expensive components in a High End Home Theater.

Ok, I am a Mac advocate. I have a G5 and an Imac at home. I love the Mac. Yet I am a Windows Network Admin. Humm. Money Talks. Anyway. Good news for converts out there:
Think Secret - New iBook, Mac mini part numbers appear: "Three new Mac mini configurations will be available in the near future, priced at $499, $599, and $699, sources say. Apple currently does not offer a $699 Mac mini configuration.
New iBook part numbers are meanwhile showing up at $999 and $1,299 price points, with the $1,499 model seemingly dropped from the line-up. Think Secret first brought word of the pending iBook earlier this week."
I want a new Ibook and a Mac Mini. The Mac Mini is a perfect HTPC.

The very best characters from the Muppet show now have a Movie Review show o the net. You have to love this to old Farts.
CNN.com - Muppets Statler, Waldorf review movies - Jun 24, 2005: "Curmudgeons don't come much more lovable than Statler and Waldorf, the grumpy old men who offered unsolicited and witty comments on 'The Muppet Show.' Now the puppet duo is getting a regular spot on http://www.Movies.com to share their inimitable reviews of upcoming films with online fans"
This is just a great use for Jim Henson's characters. I have worried about what would become of all his work ever since the kids got their hands on it. So far it is a 50/50 split on good and bad.
Wow I just did this test in class the other night. Since then I have had something related to it come up every day.
Take the test. It is worth knowing.
Bloginality: the ISTP personality: "As an ISTP, you are Intraverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving.
This makes your primary focus on Introverted Thinking with Extraverted Sensing
This is defined as a SP personality, which is part of Carl Jung's Artisans (Sensation Seeking) type, and more specifically the Crafters or Mechanics.
Because of your desire for action and independance, you will change the format of blogging or design frequently to keep it interesting and different. Your loyalty may have you reading the same blogs over a long period of time. Even though you could be easily bored with blogging, you might find that because you like following a project through, this is a good way for you to use your alone time to sort the facts you pick up through the day."
Hey, If you read this page can you help me out.

I used to work for a VR Arcade about ten years ago. The System"s ran on Amiga 2000's. Graphics sucked but it was fun. Just think what this will be like.
3001 AD Brings Virtual Reality to the Living Room - Xbox: "'Players feel like they are in the game. You look around by turning your head. It's much more natural than using a mouse,' says Bob Ladrach, President of 3001 AD. Gamers agree"

Just read this over on Digg.com. That is pretty sad. He was one of the better Trek Characters.
Just heard on Fox News that James Doohan, aka Scotty from the original "Star Trek" cast, died at 85 years old. Cause was pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease.
Scotty Beams Up For The Last Time

Do you think this is a worthy replacement for Star Trek?
I Love the new show. It is amazing. Very Ruff and edgy. I am very glad it is doing well. I can't say it is a replacement but I enjoy it. What do you think?

I was a die hard fan of Deep Space Nine. I loved the storyline and characters. Like all Star Treks, the first couple seasons were a little hokey. I feel that DS9 had the most to offer though. The last Season was by far the best Star Trek stuff ever. I really wich that they had made movies with this crew. TNG was great, but with wars going on in DS9 they could have had a field day.
Plus you have to love Quark and Nogg and The Grand Negus. Ferangei( I think thats right) are great. Odo was a great advisary for Quark too. When they brought in Worf. I thought that was an interesting Idea. When they had him kill the Klingon Chancellor, I was floored. That was a great move.
Anyway, Which did you like and for what reasons? What about Babylon 5? Alot of people say DS9 is a rippoff of it. One of the shows creators has pitched a new Star Trek idea to Paramount for a new series. Is this good or Bad? Let me know what you think.

What can I say about this movie except: BUY IT!!
It Comes out August 14th or 16th... It is a must own. I can't wait to see the followups. HEre is a page full of reviews for you
Google Reviews: Sin City (2005): "If film noir was not a genre, but a hard man on mean streets with a lost lovely in his heart and a gat in his gut, his nightmares would look like ..."

Jack Johnson is a surfer. He is also a pretty good musician. I first heard him with the release of On and On and really enjoyed it. I think this is on performer that has a strong future ahead of him. Here's what Rolling stone thinks:
RollingStone.com: In Between Dreams : Jack Johnson : Review: "Johnson appears to think that his smooth acoustic surfer music might need a retooling to reflect this scary new world. He still sounds mellow 'n' yellow on escapist cuts like 'Banana Pancakes,' and he occasionally still fakes a Caribbean accent that's groovy for Harry Belafonte but not for dudes as white as Johnson. But on 'Crying Shame' and 'Staple It Together,' he attacks warmongers and the chronically denial-ridden. Don't try to take his waves, either! "
I get the feeling Rolling stone is rather negative about most things anymore. HUMM...

I am a big fan of this group. I listened to the first album for months. The remix versions were even better. This album is good, I think I built it up to much though so it was not as great as I had hoped it would be. Look for the Feel Good Inc Single with the song Bill Murray on it. It is an Import but wel worth the extra dough. Here is what Pitchfork had to say.
Gorillaz: Demon Days: Pitchfork Review: "Most musicians have their own toy boxes, the places they hide away all the obsessions and experiments that don't fit comfortably under the umbrella of their main projects. Compared to other artists', Damon Albarn's playroom chest must be filled to bursting: the cultural drawer cluttered with horror films, anime, and rock'n'roll stereotypes; the musical drawer crammed full of dub, hip-hop, dancehall, and afropop. In fact, Albarn seems to have so many creative distractions tempting his muse, he can't even keep them from occasionally invading the conservative environs of his day job-- each Blur album manages to squeeze in at least one ill-fitting endeavor like Think Tank's 'Crazy Beat'."
