What is DP Bureau?
I need advice on the next step to take with a collection item on my credit report. My ex-husband went to the dentist while we were married so his bill had my name on it too (the services were in 2002, the bill went to collections in 2004 - we divorced in 2003). In any case, the debt with the collection agency showed up on my credit report (I noticed in early 2007) and I disputed with all 3 and all 3 agencies andquot;verfiedandquot;, so then I went to the collection agency and they sent me to the dentist. I talked to the dentist office and explained this wasnt mine, they pulled up the bill saw his name on it and said they would stop reporting. They told me the quickest way to get it removed would be to dispute with the agencies again and it should come off in less than a month. They also gave me the bill with my ex-husband's name on it. So I did what they suggested and TransUnion and Equifax deleted the account. Experian sent me a generic letter saying they already investigated and will not re-investigate. I have written them 3 more times and sent copies of the dental bill. The debt still appears on my report and even my letters to the collection agency come back to me andquot;not at this addressandquot; - I think they are closed. I sent the returned mail to Experian as well with a letter sayign the collection agency doesn't exist anymore. Yet Experian won't look into it, they andquot;verifiedandquot; this debt over a year ago so they are just leaving this on my report. I have called and they told me to mail in the bill, I did, got the generic andquot;we previously verified so we won't look into it againandquot; letter back, I try to dispute online, it won't let me says andquot;previous dispute verfiedandquot;. My credit report with Experian does say in the comments andquot;account disputed by consumerandquot; but they wont' take it off or even look into it. Is there a management office for Experian, or some other place to contact that won't give me the same robot answers and will actually look into this so this can be removed. It's $197 and some people have told me to just pay it, but that seems silly when the dentist office doesn't even want the $ from me and I don't think that would even satisfy Experian, I have proof the debt isn't mine and they won't look at it. What is the next step?
What is the best way to handle paying a judgement? I have never been served, or even notified of this judgement against me, just saw it on my credit report. The OC is listed on my Credit Report, with a balance showing. I know I owe them, but I believe that the SOL to file judgement against me was up in Jan 2007. They apparently filed this judgement in May 2007, but I just now saw it on my CR. I looked up the judgement in the Office of Public Records through my County Court's website, and it says it was filed/recorded on 4/22/08... which is probably why it's just now showing on my CR. How should I deal with this?
I'm looking at a Debt Management Program with CareOne Credit. Has anyone worked or heard of them before? I want to know more about these guys before I agree to any program. I'm interested in positive and negative feedback. Thanks! Wayne
Also, can anyone point to a website with a debt settlement timeline......when to send out first letters, etc.
So, my husband and I both receive direct deposit to our checking accounts with Wells Fargo, a bank we will be trying to settle our credit cards with. Do you recommend that we open a checkings account with another bank so that Wells Fargo does not have a record of how much money we are receiving? or does that not really matter?
so.......my husband and I talked more in depth about debt settlement today. It sounds like we are def. going to do it. A few questions arose though. 1) if we are already behind on payments (capital one is almsot 2 months late) do we pretty much have to start paying our bills immediately to make this work?
What is the address and phone number for your local Detroit office??
I have horrible credit (3 chargeoffs) and about 8 months of late car payments. I have since settled my finances and soon would like to buy a house. My wife has very good credit (780) and mine is about 490. My question is, how long after I get the chargeoffs settled will I be able to buy a house? When applying for the home loan, how will my credit affect the mortgage companys decision? Do they take the median of the 2 credit scores or will they see mine and swiftly send it away to the denied pile?
