A daily discovery of new ideas related to multimedia, marketing, blogging, rss, search and creative thinking
I know it's Saturday, so let me get right to it.
How much do you know about magnetism?
Strange question, I know, but please bear with me.
If you're like most people, you probably don't understand how magnetism works, but you certainly understand the effect it can have.
A magnetized object seems to magically 'suck up' any metal objects as you move it around.
Even some people have what has been called 'magnetic personalities', meaning they seem to draw other people to them with little or no effort at all.
I'm sure you've personally experienced this power in one way or another.
Now, I know you're probably asking yourself right now, 'what in the world is this guy talking about?!?'
Well, I'm not here to give you a science lesson, especially on a Saturday.
Not at all!
But I did want to share with you a cool little gizmo I cooked up in my laboratory that does something with your Web content that is totally unique.
..it magnetizes it, and gives it a sense of attraction!
Want to see 8 live demos? Click this link:

I hope the rest of your Saturday has nothing to do with science. :)
Derek
After many, many requests, and quite a long time of leaving it on the back-burner, I've finally completed creating the *free* Mini Search Automator widget for your site.
This little gizmo packs a lot of search power into something less than the size of a matchbook (you can see in action to the upper-right side of this page).
The page where you configure your own explains all the features, so I won't go into a lot of details other than these:
I'm sure you've noticed that everyday the news has more and more stories about:
Let me state right off that what I'm about to share with you is only applicable if you have an Website of any kind or have an online business.
If this is you, then read on...
As you may know, I have several Websites myself.
I'm also a search expert/dude. I can tear through the Web and find virtually any kind of information I want or need.
As a Website owner, like yourself, some of the most common topics I want to learn more about include:
What do you want to do better in your life?
If you're like me, there're probably quite a few things that come to mind. :)
After all, part of living a fulfilling life is expanding our knowledge, and improving our skills, right?
Well, I'm here to tell you that no matter what you want to do better in your life that it's very likely that there's a site, article, news story, or even video to help you do it - probably lots of them!
That's the great thing about the Web. People a constantly creating quality how-to content about virtually anything you can imagine.
With video, it's become even better!
This is information you *used* to have to pay for in the form of books, DVDs, etc.
Now it's online - yours for the taking - *if* you know where, and how to, find it.
In the tradition of creating quality tools to help people discover great content online, I recently made it my mission to develop a new tool built specifically for helping you find all this great how-to content online.
I call it the How-To Seeker.
I crammed virtually everything I know about finding how-to's and tutorial-type content into this new tool, but I didn't lose sight of the fact that it needed to be simple and fun to use.
I really think I nailed it! :)
Take a look for yourself - I've put together a short video showing it in action:
http://www.howtoseeker.com
If you get a chance, I'd love to hear your feedback about this type of 'niche-specific' search tool.
Also, in case you're interested, this new tool is included within my TopicSeekers.com membership site:
http://www.topicseekers.com
Source: ShutterstockAlthough I don't blog that often, it's not usually due to a lack of inspiration.
Usually it's because I want to give the absolute best experience to my readers and subscribers.
I mean, I could just type a line or two, or even a paragraph or two and leave it at that, but unless I can deliver something of high quality, I just as soon not deliver anything.
A new tool I just discovered may be the answer to my content-producing issue.
Not only is it a very original idea, but it's a tremendous time-saver as well.
It's called Zemanta, and you can see it in action within this post (the image and the related articles and the link below to Firefox browser on Wikipedia).
It's a Firefox browser add-on that integrates with some blogging tools (such as Blogger) allowing you to quickly discover media (images, articles, tags) related to your current post that you can insert with the click of a button.
It's actually quite brilliant!
Check the links below for more info on how you can begin using this awesome tool yourself!
BTW, I'm launching a new product shortly - just so you know. Nothing to share right now, but look for more info soon.
I just wanted to send out a quick note to let you know that TopicSeekers.com is now live!
Here's a link:
http://www.topicseekers.com
Remember, memberships are initially being limited to 500. If you want one, grab it now.
That's all for now. :)
Here's a quick invitation I have for you.
I've placed a live demo of TopicSeekers online that allows you to use the Topic Engine portion
of the site.
You're able to load and use several various Topic Lists and see for yourself what's so unique and powerful about this site.
This is just a very basic example of what's possible, but I think you'll find it engaging and pretty incredible.
The site launches in just a couple days (to the first 500 people only).
If you're not on the early notification list yet, I'd recommend you do so after you're done with your topic-exploring experience. :)
Here's a link to the demo (nothing to sign-up for):

Quick post today.
I've just uploaded a bunch of new videos about TopicSeekers.com that go further into demonstrating what this incredible tool can do for you. Look for a link below.
Before heading off to view the videos, I couple other things I wanted to bring to your attention:
Ever since announcing the launch of TopicSeekers.com, one of the most asked questions is, 'what's the difference between TopicSeekers.com and the Search Automator software?'
Many current Search Automator customers are especially curious.
Well, while they both help you easily discover content online, TopicSeekers provides a number of new unique tools and features not available within Search Automator.
As a current Search Automator customer, it may contain all you need - it's still the best search tool around!
But to help you get a clearer picture of the differences between the two, I put together this short video.
After watching the video, if TopicSeekers.com appeals to you, or you want to examine it further, visit the site, watch the video there, or join the launch notification list. This will give you access to additional demo videos, as well as get you on a growing list of people who will get first dibs on the exclusive 1000 spots I'm making available.
On with the video...
Online Videos by Veoh.com
For the past 6 months, I've been working day and night developing an idea that I've had in my mind for a long, long time.
It's a BIG idea, but I felt I just couldn't keep in on paper any longer.
It's something you'll be able to use every single day in a number of creative, useful and unique ways.
It's a truly unique idea that will allow you to discover great content online in a way you've never seen before - I promise!
That's not hype, I just don't know how else to express the uniqueness and power of what I'm going to reveal - tomorrow. :)
The official launch is still a couple weeks away, but I'm going to be providing some video demos until then to show you what it's all about and what you'll be able to do with it.
I'm telling you - there's nothing on the Web like it - nothing!
Until then, here's a screenshot of what you'll see in action tomorrow:
Hey there, remember me? It's Derek.
I just checked and it's been over 2 months since I last posted anything here. That's awful- just awful!
Where in the world have I been, you ask? Well, that's what I'm about to share with you.
I'm happy to announce that a brand new version of whonu.com is now live, and it absolutely ROCKS, if I do say so myself. :)
I'll show you some sample searches in a second, but first I wanted to talk a bit about the need for an upgrade.
With the new version, I set out to:
If you are, then this might be the most important link you click all year! :)

I hope you enjoy your higher I.Q.!

12 Volt Battery Hack! You'll Be Surprised... - video powered by Metacafe
I just found a Website containing some of the most amazing photographs I ever seen.
You see, this guy goes around to old, abandoned places out west, at night, and photographs them using special lighting techniques he's developed.
The result are eerie, yet thought-provoking. It's hard to describe the sensation I get by looking at his work, but I loved it so much, I had to share it.
The site is called Lost America:
Be sure to click the various navigation links at the top of the page to explore the different categories of photos (they're all stunning).
Oh, and for the full effect, make sure the room you're in is dark - it puts you in the intended mood.
Enjoy!
Watch, and you'll see what I mean - it's genius, really...

Here's a fantastic video that demonstrates how easy it is to create an affiliate shop using PopShops.
Viral marketing at its finest, I think...
A new service launched today that allows you to buy someone's brain, or sell yours. That is, if you think (as I do) that brain is synonymous with knowledge.
(You didn't think I meant the actual gray matter, did you?!?)
The service, named Gazhoo, allows you to buy and sell content (another name for knowledge).
This includes reports, forms, documents, and more.
I great service for people who need content (for their sites), or a great service for writers/publishers (who now have a marketplace to sell their brain)?
You decide.
I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes.
Today I discovered a cat that provides answers to nearly any topic I can throw at it.
Want to see for yourself? Here you go:

What a cat - and no fur balls!
If you're a Search Automator 3 user, this cool cat is now available under the Question icon.
The original Search Automator launched over 2 years ago (wow).
Since that time, it has continued to be a success beyond my expectations.
Originally, my plan for selling Search Automator was to appeal to the Internet Marketing crowd, hence the design, layout, and approach of www.searchautomator.com was based on the market's sensibilities and expectations - it was a true 'sales letter' - type page.
During the two years since its launch, I always knew that I was missing out on a large market - professionals and corporations - due to the fact many of them despise the 'sales letter' marketing approach. I'm sure many of them visited www.searchautomator.com, saw the sales page, and ran. :)
That's OK, because the 'sales letter' approach has been a great success the last two years. I would continue with it, but I feel the professional/corporate market is too large to ignore any longer.
That being said, I've launched a new site at www.searchautomator.com.
The new site is edgier, more modern, and straight to the point. I looked at numerous sites for inspiration, and think I've come up with a real winner.
So, why am I sharing this with you?
Well, with the new site's mission (to appeal to the professional/corporate crowd), there's a lot of new potential for affiliates.
If you've not joined the Search Automator affiliate program, do it now!
Search Automator the tool, and the site, appeal to a wide range of users - virtually limitless, really. The software sells for $37.00 and affiliates make a commission of 60% (more than $22.00 per sale). If that's not motivation to jump on the affiliate bandwagon, I don't know what is.
Well, be sure to check out the new site, sign up for the affiliate program, and share any feedback you may have.
I love simple tools that do one thing and do it well.
I love it better when they're Web-based (no need to download anything).
I love them even more when they're FREE!
Today I found an online tool that fits all these criteria - It's a simple, yet versatile tool for creating striped backgrounds for Web sites, giving them that cool Web 2.0 look.
I hope you find it useful too!
