The University of Bradford Creates Intelligent Industry Links to Push the Boundaries of Students~ Abilities Using AI and Gaming

The University of Bradford was founded in 1832, with the formation of its Mechanics Institute. It received its Royal Charter in 1966. Today, it teaches more than 6,000 full-time undergraduates and 800 full-time postgraduates. In 2003, the university was invited to a meeting with the Academia team with the Microsoft Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) Group to discuss ways in which the two organisations could work together. The DPE team introduced the University to a product called Terrarium built by developers using the Microsoft .NET Framework. Equipped with the knowledge of what Terrarium could do, Bradford realised that it could be modified to meet its specific Artificial Intelligence needs.

Dutch Pensions Giant Builds System of the Future Thanks to HP Flexible Sourcing

PGGM administers the compulsory pension's scheme for the healthcare and social work sector of the Dutch economy. PGGM embarked on an ambitious five-year plan to migrate all its systems from mainframe and Sun onto a totally new solution built to open standards with Microsoft .NET and running principally on HP rx8620 Integrity servers with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition and SQL Server. To successfully complete this huge project, it needed an accelerator that could help it build faster, with better quality and at reduced cost. PGGM chose a flexible sourcing agreement which off-shored application development and testing functions to HP's Global Delivery India Centre (GDIC).
